Third annual Fairy Fest coming to Red Wing on June 6

After a long winter, it is time to welcome magical fairies back to Red Wing for the summer.

That’s the spirit behind the third annual Fairy Fest, which will be held on Saturday, June 6th.

The event will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Jordan Court, behind Mandy’s Coffee and Café. All ages are welcome, and everyone is encouraged to dress up as any magical creature they want.

To make the event magical, there will be many fairy-themed crafts and activities. Among the activities, there will be a petting zoo with “magical unicorns,” a costume contest, and a floral picture wall designed by Riverbend Floral Studio.

Additionally, the afternoon will be filled with live entertainment. There will be live music performances from Will Sings Songs and Linus Cuchetti, a magic show, and a hula hoop show.

In addition to the free activities there will be food trucks and local vendors with items available for purchase.

For those who wish to participate in the event, but do not yet have a fairy costume, they can visit Tootsie Too’s. The store has many costumes available for sale, and all proceeds from these purchases will go toward Fairy Fest to ensure that the event can remain free in coming years.

Likewise, anyone who wishes to donate to Fairy Fest to help it grow in the future can donate at givemn.org/story/fairyfest.

In the week leading up to Fairy Fest, there will be a Fairy Garden Contest. Gardens can be submitted at Tootsie Too’s from June 1st through June 5th, and will be displayed in their windows. The winners of the contest will be announced at Fairy Fest.

To get excited for the festival, Red Wing Downtown Main Street will also be hiding Sneaky Snails. Beginning on June 1st, The Snails will be hidden around Red Wing, Goodhue, Lake City, Cannon Falls, and Zumbrota, and hints to their whereabouts will be given on Downtown Main Street’s Facebook and Instagram pages. Anyone who finds a snail can bring it to Fairy Fest to receive a prize.

June 1st will also be the kickoff for the Magic Map of Red Wing. As in recent years, fairy doors will appear in the storefronts of many local businesses. Anyone can get a map from a participating local business to search for the doors. Once searchers find ten or more doors they can submit their map to Downtown Main Street to receive magical mail from the fairies.

More information on all of these events can be found at magicalredwing.com.
