Press Release: Photo Contest 2011
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 14, 2011 – Red Wing, MN – Red Wing Downtown Main Street is holding a photo contest to increase awareness of the historic, picturesque downtown area. The top prize is $400; second place will win $200 dollars. A $100 prize will be given to the winner in the young photographer category. Fifteen winning images will be printed in a commemorative DTMS calendar. Proceeds from the sale of the calendar will be used by the Downtown Main Street Design Committee. The Design Committee works to preserve local heritage and improve the physical environment of the downtown district.
In addition to the top prizes, submissions chosen for the calendar will receive payment for their work. As such, all submissions will become property of Red Wing Downtown Main Street, and they will be featured on the Downtown Main Street website. The judging panel will consist of a mix of photography professionals and amateurs. Photo submissions will be accepted through June 30th, 2012 to allow for a variety of seasonal shots.
The Contest:
Submit your photos in the highest resolution possible, to our public Picasa album via email, at downtownredwing.photocontest@picasaweb.com.
Include name, age (if entering as a youth photographer) and contact information. Entries will be be on display here.
Photos must be recently taken, although it is not required that they are taken during the period of the contest.
Photos must feature some or all of the downtown district (see map).
Photos from all seasons are encouraged as they may be chosen for the calendar. (Click here to find out about The Holiday Stroll, a great picture-taking event!)
