✩ Downtown Red Wing Was Sizzling!
Posted By sari gordon on July 1, 2011
We just had a remarkable week here in downtown Red Wing.
Jon Schallert, Destination University
The Jon Schallert business workshop was a full house, with local business owners, city leaders and visitors from Mankato, Wayzata, Rochester, Iowa and Wisconsin. The presentation was a collection of best business practices Schallert discovered among uncommonly successful small towns, small businesses and far-fetched dreams. It was powerful and if you left during the talk, you were sure to miss something valuable. Good thing so many people were there to keep the momentum going.
We would love to hear from anyone interested in attending the boot camp Schallert introduced. And don’t forget, DTMS members have free access to the Destination University classes online! Get a group of colleagues, or board members or fund raisers, find a cool room and get motivated with these excellent learning tools. Members can view the classes in the DTMS office or talk to Tracy about setting up a time and place to view the sessions from the office computer. Individual members can watch the lessons on their home computers by subscribing to the service for $20 a month.
Ladies Night Out Pajama Party
Friday night was awesome! Ladies, girls and young women strolled around downtown in the their pj’s–pink was the color of the evening and the mood was lighthearted and fun. The crowds were huge! We’re still seeing those great swag bags that sold out before the event itself!
Father’s Day
The Father’s Day car show was a blast! Did you get a free mug from Bev’s Cafe? Did your dad tell any stories about the cars he saw? Did you love having a place to take your dad and show him how much you love him?
Show Us The Love!
Just a reminder—Downtown Main Street is a nonprofit organization. These events are there for the businesses, friends and neighbors who love downtown Red Wing and who want to keep the area alive and exciting.
We’ve put our membership sign-up form online, so if you’re feeling especially good about Red Wing and the things our organization is doing, please consider a donation. You can join as a friend for only $25 or more for a business membership. Take a look at our member directory and you’ll see why we cherish our member base and you’ll see all the people who are cheering us on, so please, join up and truly be a part of Red Wing’s future downtown.
Thanks everyone for a great start to the summer of 2011!
P.S. If you’re one of those people who thinks 100 degrees ISN’T hot enough for ya, go ahead and buy one of our logo blankets! You’ll be glad you have a present to fall back on when you start attacking that holiday list or want to send a little souvenir to that kid away at college.
